Future Fiber Crop
WELCOME!
I met my first alpacas in 2003 and knew right
away this was something I wanted to be part of. While breeding
is fun and rewarding, I have become fascinated with the fiber arts
and am leaning more towards good quality fiber animals with sustained
fineness, density, crimp, and staple lenth. These are all
important aspects to spinning, knitting, crocheting and felting.
How long an alpaca carries these qualities into old age is also
very important so as to keep the value of the fiber consistent over
the alpaca's lifetime. I love color and am aiming towards
having as diverse a color herd as possible, including pinto and
appaloosa with their endless variations and shading possible after
carding and spinning.
My future herdsire will be ready to start
breeding next spring. He is a beautiful silver gray, Mr. FrostKing
with great bloodlines including Peruvian Ion! His fiber is fabulous,
very fine, dense and buttery with nice crimp.
Please feel free to contact me at any time. I am
always willing to share what I know or point you in the right direction,
or just "talk alpaca." Please visit my Etsy site
to see some of my products at West Windz Fiber.
